Divisions


The Rookie - Rookies

This division was created to support those who are just getting into the sport, the "true rookies" if you will. To participate in this division this event must be your first or second triathlon. Those signed up as Rookies will start the swim together based on age group categories.

The Rookie - Veterans

This division is for everyone who has done 2 or more triathlons. Do not worry you do not have to be competitive to participate in this division. Swim waves will be based upon age group categories.

The Rookie - Open

The open division exists for those wishing to go head to head with the fastest participants regardless of age group. This keeps the age groups friendly and allows for some seriously fast times and course records.

Age Groups


Age groups are separated in 5 year increments. Your race age is based on your age on December 31st of this year. This is done so that you race at the same age for the entire season. The minimum age to participate are as follows: Sprint Distance- 14yrs old, Quarter Distance- 16yrs old, Half Distance-18 yrs old.

Individual Age Groups Men and Women
19 & Under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+

The minimum age to participate in this event is 12 years old.

Awards


Finisher Medals
Every participant that crosses the finish line is presented with a unique commemorative Rookie Tri Finisher Medal! These high quality medals will look great hanging around your neck as you rock on into the afternoon enjoying the finish line festival as well as hanging on in your home or office

Awards
In each division, starting at 19 & under and going to 75+ in 5 year increments, the top 3 Males and top 3 Females in each age group will receive awards. With the expect ion of the Open Division which will be presented top 3 Overall Male and & Female.

The Overall Male & Female and Overall Masters Male & Female will also be awarded independent of age group categories.

Finish Line Festival


The finish line may signal the end of the race but it is just the beginning of the PARTY! The Finish Line Party is stocked with goodies, good music, and fun fun fun! The finish line area is open to the public so feel free to invite family and friends to come experience the excitement while you are out dominating the course. Vendors will supply top notch food for all participants! There will be bountiful refreshing drinks and yummy snacks as well as a beer garden, flowing with beer from for participants over 21 ! Make sure you have your yellow band on, this not only gets you in transition but also into the beer garden. There is free water in the water monsters so make sure you pack your reusable water bottle, all participants will be given a Custom 2015 Rookie Tri Water bottle when they cross the finish. Food & drink for spectators may be available for purchase, and may be free at some vendors.

The Texas Tri Series


The Rookie Triathlon is the 1st event in the annual Texas Tri Series. The Series is composed of six triathlon events. Participants can complete the series by participating in all of the events. Participants will be given credit for participating in an event if they finish the event as a competitor, or if they volunteer. The series concludes with a finisher party.
